Thanks !!
Thanks to Ben Joplin (WB5VST) for an interesting presentation on APRS in our April Meeting.
For those that were watching the last game of March Madness, APRS equipment and software use 1200 baud AX.25 data packets on 144.390 MHz to send short messages back and forth.
While vehicle tracking is the typical knee-jerk definition of APRS, it can do a lot more like:
a) get your home weather station on the air.
b) send short text messages to another ham
c) send short emails when you’re out of cell data service range
d) get your position overlayed on NOAA weather radars
etc.
More to follow.
